Trey Haley - Tri Destined Studios President

Trey Haley is President and Partner at Tri Destined Studios where he is responsible for the implementation of productions and events. He is also tasked with overseeing the company’s in-house production service division, Tri Destined VIP, as well as developing diverse venture collaborations and strategic alliances based on shared vision, values and goals. With its motto of “Destined to Change the Perception of the World,” Tri Destined Studios continues to create a successful blueprint for independent studios in realizing its mission to be the number one brand in urban entertainment, production and distribution.


A passionate filmmaker with a diverse breadth and sensibility, Trey has directed a variety of genres and has multiple projects scheduled for release.


Trey is the Director and Co-Executive Producer of  most successful New York Times Best-Seller, “Carl Weber’s The Family Business”  which will  air on BET fall of 2018/2019. Trey also directed the  holiday film ‘Throwback Holiday’ starring Jennifer Freeman, Robert Richard, Rhyon Brown, Jean Elie, KJ Smith and Vanessa Bell Calloway. ‘Throwback Holiday’  will premiere on BET this Christmas (2018) with original music by Grammy Award winning producer Daryl Simmons. Trey's next film is the Rom-Com ‘Always A Bridesmaid’ written by Yvette Nicole Brown and the Sports Drama 'Destiny'.



He is also currently producing a  compelling documentary “Black Gold,” which will examine the economic, political and ecological implications of the worldwide gold, precious stone market and its effects on Sierra Leone.


Trey was also behind the lens for the drama/thriller “The Man in 3B,” starring Lamman Rucker, Christian Keyes, DB Woodside, Robert Ri’chard, Brely Evans, and Billy Dee Williams. It had a limited theatrical release in 2015 and is still experiencing a successful run on BET and Netflix.

The “Man In 3B,” received the CAPRI Capital Partner Award for “Best Film” at the 2015 Pan African Film Festival and was nominated as “Best Independent Film” at the 2016 Black Reel Awards. The film also screened at the Bronze Lens Awards, the Steve Harvey Neighborhood Awards, the Urban World Film Festival and aboard the Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage, just to name a few. Trey also directed the mystery/thriller “Woman on the Edge,” starring Rumer Willis and “A Mother’s Sacrifice,” starring Kristy Swanson which has already aired on the top networks in France, Spain, and South America and Mexico.


Other projects directed by Trey include, The “Preacher’s Son,” starring Christian Keyes, Drew Sidora, Valarie Pettiford, Clifton Powell, Kellita Smith and Vanessa Bell Calloway, premiered on  Netflix and made its television world debut on BET in 2017.  


Soon to be released is  “The Choir Director,” (sequel to “The Preacher’s Son) slated for release in 2018/2019. “The Man in 3B,” “The Preacher’s Son,” “The Choir Director," are all based on novels by New York Times best-selling author Carl Weber and produced by Tri Destined Studios.

‘The Preacher’s Son’ won the Pan African Film Festival Programmers Award in 2017.


Trey was born and raised in Arlington, Texas. He attended the University of North Texas and majored in Radio, Television and Film. After relocating to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film and television, Trey was mentored by some of the top music video directors in the industry. He was also fortunate to have further honed his production skills at several leading television and film production companies including Morgan Freeman’s Revelations Entertainment.


He is often called upon to share his expertise in film/television production and business affairs at notable film and television forums for leading industry organizations such as the Hollywood Diversity Association, the Black Professionals Summit, the Bronze Lens Awards, the Pan African Film Festival and more.


He conducts filmmaking master classes that integrate discussions and hands-on learning to address the creative, technical and business aspects of film and television. Trey’s focus is both preparatory and collegiate institutions that provide education to students pursuing professional careers both in front of and behind the camera.


A strong believer in “paying it forward,” Trey is deeply committed to empowering both youth and adults to imagine and fully realize their potential. Currently, he is writing a self-help book entitled, “What's Your Thing!” and developing a phone application that will help people achieve their goals.
